Photo Rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin. As most of us age, we begin to see visible signs of sun damage, time, and lifestyle choices appearing in our complexion. This aged look may include freckles, rosacea, wrinkles, broken capillaries, dark spots, blotchy skin color, redness of the face and neck, enlarged pore size and uneven pigmentation.

Photo Rejuvenation is the only procedure that can treat vascular redness, the appearance of rosacea, pigmented brown spots, sun damage, skin texture, and collagen structure all at once. With the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) technology, dramatic improvements can now be accomplished with little or no "downtime" and with very minimal discomfort.

Remember, if you spend any time in the sun; be sure the moisturizing treatments you select contain an adequate sunscreen ingredient to protect your skin from damage. Keeping your skin well nourished, protected and moisturized provides the best defense against the signs of aging!

What is Photo rejuvenation?

Photo Rejuvenation is a series of Intense Pulsed Light treatments that improve the appearance of rosacea, flushing, broken capillaries, sun damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photo aging. Treatment also improves mild acne scars, reduces large pores, corrects dark circles around the eyes, and reduces fine lines.Treatments are especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, and hands. This exciting treatment involves little or no "down time." You can resume normal activities immediately.

How many treatments will I need?

For optimal results, a series of 3 to 5 treatmentsare recommended. Follow-up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results.

How does the treatment work?

An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulsesover the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat causes damage to the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process. The lesion will darken before it flakes off or the body absorbs it. Treatment can be given as frequently as every three weeks.

What are the benefits of Photo rejuvenation?

  • Treatment Improves Sun Spots, Age Spots, Dull Complexions, Uneven Pigmentation,Large Pores, Sun Damaged Skin, and Early Signs of Aging.
  • Treatment Improves Red Flushing Skin, Rosacea, and Broken Capillaries.
  • Enjoy Smoother Skin with a More Even Tone.
  • Minimal Discomfort During Treatment.
  • Resume Regular Activities Immediately.

What is involved in a treatment?

A treatment may vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. First, the treated area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the gel is removed, the skin cleansed, and a sunscreen is applied. Pain is minimal; however, topical anesthesia can be used for maximum comfort. For sensitive skin, a cool compress is applied following treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

Side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker, and capillaries may be more visible. In rare instances, temporary swelling and/or blistering can occur.

What improvement will I see?

Clients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Expect to see a gradual decrease in redness, broken capillaries, flushing, irregular pigmentation, pore size and fine lines. After each treatment, the skin will feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone.

Home-care Tip: It is important to follow up with hydration and sunscreen when performing any Photo Rejuvenation treatments. Pevonia offers a wide range of products to follow up and keep you hydrated and protected.

No More Razor? Tips you need to know about Laser Hair Removal!

As summer draws upon us we all want to rid our skin of unwanted hair with the most effective and painless method. A few tips you should know before you get started.

Laser and Pulsed Light works best on people with dark hair and light skin.

How it works?

Lasers use pulsed light to target, breakdown and destroy the melanin (dark pigment) in hair. This is why it works only on dark hair. Lasers will also target the melanin in dark skin, which can cause discoloration. Hair grows in three phases: growing, resting and shedding. Lasers and pulsed lights targets hair in the growth phase.

When does hair fall out?

Hair falls out within 10-14days, a mild scrub used in the shower on the 10 th day will help exfoliate the skin and remove hair.

What areas can be treated?

Lasers and Pulsed light target several follicles at once so you can treat large areas of skin. A typical laser hair removal session on both legs usually takes under two hours. Lasers are great for treating the back, shoulders, arms & chest. For upper lip and chin, lasers work but only on dark hair. If you want to ensure the blonde hairs are zapped, your better bet is electrolysis for permanent hair removal in these areas.

How many sessions does it take?

Normally, a series of four to five treatments for facial hair are administered at four to six week intervals. For body hair a series of six to eight treatments administered at eight to twelve week intervals. Following the initial series of treatments, subsequent treatments are administered, usually at longer and longer intervals. After a single treatment, the hair in a given area is usually reduced in amount and thickness for a long period of time. However, it may not be completely gone. Maintenance treatments are always required; these maintenance treatments may eventually be required at only yearly intervals or even longer. This will depend on the area being treated as well the hair.

Note: It is recommended that you not tan, wax or tweeze hair before your treatment.
